The Bluejays open BIG EAST play on New Year's Eve in Omaha.

On Thursday afternoon the remaining blanks on the Creighton men's basketball schedule were filled in with the release of the BIG EAST conference slate.

After a non-conference slate that features rematches with Arizona State, California, Nebraska and St. Joseph's, the Bluejays will open their first run through the new-look BIG EAST on New Year's Eve against Marquette, though it is possible the Bluejays and Golden Eagles could meet earlier. Both teams are in The Wooden Legacy, held in California. It is unlikely the two would meet unless both make the championship game of the tournament, which also features Miami, San Diego State and Arizona State.

Creighton will start 2014 on the road with road games at Seton Hall and DePaul. Upon returning, the Bluejays will welcome Xavier and Butler for home games on January 12 and 14, respectively.

Once the Bulldogs leave town, it's time for the first long weekend in the Northeast. After a Saturday tilt against Providence, the Bluejays head to Philadelphia for a Monday game against Villanova in the Wells Fargo Center. When Greg McDermott's squad returns to Omaha, they can get comfortable with roughly two weeks between road trips.

The extended stay in Omaha won't be dull, however. Perennial Big East powers Georgetown and St. Johns will visit CenturyLink Center Omaha in late January. The game with the Red Storm will mark the midway point of Creighton's inaugural BIG EAST season.

The second half of the double round robin schedule is highlighted by trips to historic venues. First up is Madison Square Garden for the second matchup with St. John's on February 9th. Four days later, the Bluejays will invade the newly renovated Hinkle Fieldhouse for a contest with Butler.

The Bluejays close out the regular season with the "Senior Day" game against Providence on March 8. The BIG EAST Conference tournament will run from March 12-15 in New York City's Madison Square Garden.
