Elliott Eliason, a 6-foot-11, 235-pound center from Chadron (NE) High who visited Minnesota this past weekend, has committed to the Gophers. Eliason, who picked Minnesota over Stanford and Creighton, is the first player to commit to Minnesota in the Class of 2010. It is likely that he could redshirt as a freshman, allowing him to add strength to prepare for the rugged Big Ten. Full Story

Jacob Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior guard from Columbia Heights (MN) High, has committed to Long Beach State, according to Rene Pulley. head of the Howard Pulley AAU program. Thomas had received interest from several Division I schools, including Minnesota. Thomas, who is perhaps state's top guard, led the Hylanders to a 18-11 mark last season as he averaged 22.8 points as a sophomore. Full Story

Elliott Eliason, a 6-foot-11, 235-pound center from Chadron (NE) High, will visit Minnesota September 11th and will attend the Gopher football TCF Bank Stadium opener versus Air Force. Eliason led Chadron to a second place finish in the state tournament as they fell to defending Class C-1 state champions Hastings (NE) St. Cecilia 61-58, despite finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds.
