| Clay has exceptional balance and breakaway speed, but his acceleration is his strength, once he's in the open field, he's gone. See's the field well, and has great instincts. Had over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving, so can complement any kind of offense, whether running between the tackles or catching the ball out of the backfield. Needs to continue to pick up his blocks better, hasn't needed to do that much because of his use in offense. |
| Biography: |
| As a 2008 junior at San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch, Brennan Clay became the first player in San Diego history to receive and rush for over 1,000 yards. He had 1,055 yards receiving on 70 catches (six TDs) and 1,486 yards rushing on 170 carries (27 TDs). Clay also had two touchdowns off kick-returns. He says he can bench 310-pounds, squat 425 and has a 33-inch vertical jump.
Started for Scripps Ranch HS in San Diego at running back as a freshman in 2006. Ran for eight touchdowns and scored another on a kickoff return.
Clay also runs track and says he may consider doing both sports in college. He runs the 100m (10.91), 200m (22.1) and long jumps (22’11”).
Clay: “I like being a leader. I think I can make the clutch plays and I’m always trying to keep my team motivated and going.
“I’m a one-cut-and-go-type of running back. I don’t do a lot of dancing.”
“There’s plenty of things I can improve. I want to do more drills and especially the cone drills. I want to become more elusive and have more explosion too.”
